The REACTION project is powered by an accomplished consortium, forming a world-class network in food defence.

This network consists of 14 key European institutes, European and Colombian universities, national food safety and defence authorities, representatives from the agri-food chain, and leading technology providers.

The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH is Austria’s largest non-university research and technology organisation, with about 1400 employees. Its vision is to bridge the gap between basic research and applied science. AIT is structured into seven centres: Energy, Health and bioresources, Digital safety & security, Low-emission transport, Technology experience, Vision systems & policy. These centres reflect AIT’s priorities in the key infrastructure issues of the future.

HOCHSCHULE BREMERHAVEN

BIAMOL is a third-party funded research institute at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, specialized in nucleic acid, aptamer, and CRISPR technologies, as well as antibody-based detection methods. It focuses on developing PCR applications for laboratory and lab-on-a-chip systems, detecting microorganisms and viruses in microfluidic systems, and sequencing of bacterial communities. The labs handle risk group 2 microorganisms and biosafety level 1 genetic engineering tasks.

IMB

The Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology is a research facility of the German Armed Forces for medical biodefence. We conduct scientific research on a broad spectrum of highly infectious pathogens and biotoxins. These pathogens might cause serious, sometimes fatal diseases. They are easily transmitted and are often difficult to treat. The ultimate goal of our research is to detect and diagnose these pathogens and biotoxins beyond doubt. We develop methods and techniques to both determine the cause and origin of a disease outbreak as well as to diagnose naturally occurring infections.

DAY ONE

Day One is a deep-tech Innovation Studio dedicated to bringing research and startup innovations to the market. Day One supports innovation projects by building successful products and companies, advancing them from low Technology Readiness Levels (TRL). Day One services include requirements analysis, business development, and validation. Day One’s core role is to enhance the exploitation of research results by employing a user-centered design approach for product development and business model validation

The Central Institute of the Bundeswehr Medical Service Munich is responsible for carrying out veterinary, pharmaceutical and chemical analyses for the German Armed Forces. It issues expert reports and provides advice to military and civil agencies. The staff is committed to application-oriented research extending the capabilities of its field-deployable laboratories. In addition, it provides training and further education for specialized military and civil personnel.
