The food chain sector is vulnerable: accidental events of contamination and intentional threat attacks can have cross-boarders impacts.
While successful efforts have been posed in the food safety and food security arena, the food defence sector urgently requires additional attention.
REACTION project is a EU-funded project which aims to increase Europe’s resilience against food threats through cost-efficient threats identification tools, the development of AI-based monitoring and management tools, the increase of cooperation and awareness regarding food defence within experts and public audience.
The project is composed of 14 partners, 13 from Europe and 1 from South America. The 14 REACTION project partners combine their diverse experiences and expertise to address the issue of food defence in a holistic and more effective way.
REACTION is here to strengthen Europe’s food defence capability and respond to intentional malicious attacks.
By combining advanced monitoring technologies, artificial intelligence, and cross-sector collaboration, REACTION will develop tools that enable early detection, rapid assessment, and effective response to both accidental and intentional contamination events.
Data-Driven Monitoring
Smart data integration and real-time monitoring tools will detect early signals of chemical and biological threats across the food chain.
AI-Supported Decision Platform
The use of Artificial intelligence will enhances threat analysis, speed up decision-making, and support coordinated response across European stakeholders.
Collaborative Food Network Defense
A European-led expert forum will connect authorities, industry, and research to share knowledge and strengthen food defence capabilities.
Public Awareness Awakening
A well-designed information campaign will be developed to increase the public awareness on potential malicious threats and food defence.
The REACTION project is composed of a world-class network of companies and organizations active in the field of food defence.
